We are delighted to announce that Saffy is a Mum !!!

Her pups were delivered by c-section on Friday 13th November 2009.

Saffy had 10 precious pups - 7 boys & 3 girls.   Sadly one boy was very small and despite all efforts we lost him early the next day - it was heartbreaking.  The remaining 9 pups are doing really well and Saffy is being a fantastic Mummy to her beautiful babes. 

All of the available Pups now have wonderful homes and their new families are eagerly counting down the weeks to their arrival.

Jacqui Stein of Leokings Leonbergers in Ireland very generously agreed to send me some frozen semen collected from her incredibly handsome stud dog - Irish Champion Bavaruki Excalibur - known to all as Zorro.  This stunning dog will bring exciting new genetics to the limited breeding lines here in Australia.  He is a beautiful example of the breed and has excellent health results.  Zorro is shown regularly & consistently receives an 'Excellent' grade from European Judges.

Saffy was mated by transcervical AI and has been confirmed in whelp.  Her puppies were born on the 13th November 2009.  Huge kudos & thanks to Dr Stuart Mason & the entire team at Monash Vet Clinic for their efforts to help make this happen.  We believe this to be an Australian first as we can't recall any prior successful Leonberger AI's using frozen semen.

I cannot thank Jacqui enough for her support & encouragement with this planned mating.
